Hello there! I'm Noa Sauer, an illustrator and picturebook maker based in Barcelona.
I've illustrated the real-life adventures of ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer in Mission im Weltraum and Training für den Mond (Tessloff Verlag). Transforming emotions and human experiences into pictures is super important to me, and I firmly believe in the power of stories to move, heal, and build.
I studied illustration at La Llotja School of Design and Art (ESDA Llotja) in Barcelona. I started my career doing coloring work for illustrators Òscar Julve and Liliana Fortuny, gaining a sense of the publishing industry and life as an illustrator.
I find inspiration in strangers passing by, theater, set design, good cinema, old journals, other people's life stories, big cities and small gardens.
Working with pencils, inks, and paper fills my soul, but I also enjoy playing around with colors and textures in Photoshop and Procreate. Balance is key.
While I'm not at my desk, you'll find me learning how to dance Lindy Hop, enjoying life in a jam session or taking a walk in the woods.
We all have stories. Stories we discover as children. Stories we tell as adults. Some help us explain ourselves, others show us how to understand each other. But what makes a good story? What makes some stories stay with us forever?
